My research focuses on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the resulting legacy of trauma. Through creating a therapeutic space, I've aided individuals in healing from profound childhood traumas. This exploration within the counseling discipline informs interventions and strengthens theories, aiding those affected by ACEs. This research has not only enhanced my professional growth but also improved my ability to facilitate healing and educate counselors-in-training.

Specifically, I concentrate on women with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) stemming from ACEs, particularly sexual abuse. I aim to investigate how psychedelic therapy, specifically psilocybin, alongside existing trauma-focused interventions, impacts neural networks associated with fear extinction, emotional regulation, and the reconsolidation of traumatic memories. This inquiry into the safety, efficacy, and mechanisms of psilocybin therapy intends to contribute to more comprehensive and effective approaches for treating complex PTSD in women affected by ACEs and sexual trauma.
